Breakfast Boost Brain Power
FREE BREAKFAST

Mornings can be really crazy. The alarm doesn’t go off, the kids don’t want to get up, there’s no time to eat breakfast before the bus comes or they’re not ready to eat. Or maybe your teenager grabs a can of soda and a candy bar on the way to school. If this sounds like your house, we have good news for you.
Free Breakfast or Universal Feeding
is now available at all Imlay City Schools. Take advantage of this option to ensure your child eats a nutritious breakfast. Recent studies show a link between nutrition and learning. A hungry child cannot learn. A nutritious breakfast helps students be more alert so they can actively participate in class. Breakfast has vitamins and nutrients for a strong and healthy body.So take advantage of this opportunity to start the day on the right foot. Your child will find breakfast at school provides not only a nutritious meal but also a relaxed atmosphere for socializing with friends and siblings.

September 2009
Welcome back! The Food Service Department is looking forward to the new school year.
We invite parents to have breakfast and lunch with their students. Adult breakfast is $1.75 and Adult lunch is $3.00.
The Imlay City Food Service Department uses the Enhanced Menu Plan. This plan has 12-15 bread/grain items weekly, 2 or more servings of fruit or vegetables daily, 2oz. of Protein daily and 8 oz. of milk. Fat is averaged to 30% weekly. Foods are oven baked not fried. Canned fruit is in natural juices or light syrup. 100% fruit juice is offered often. A choice of 1% or 2% milk is offered. Students are not required to take milk with their meals. Breakfast is offered in all buildings.
The kitchen staff needs to be notified of any dietary needs. Documentation from a doctor is needed. We will work with parents to help meet these needs.
Parents are encouraged to fill out the Free & Reduced Application. This is a family application so
ONE completed form per family is all that is needed. These will be sent home with the students the first few days of school. A student receiving Free or Reduced Meals in our district in June is eligible to receive meals in September. Applications are available in all school offices.A Debit system is used in all buildings. The students will be reminded of their pin number if it was forgotten over the summer. Please, help your Student learn his or her pin number. You are encouraged to put money into your student’s account; this eliminates sending cash with the student.Should a parent wish to put restrictions on their child's account they may do so by contacting the kitchen. It is understood that there are times when the student arrives at school with out money for lunch. The student will be able to charge a lunch only. Parents are responsible for student’s charges. The student will
not be able to charge breakfast, seconds or ala carte items. It is expected that the charged meal will be paid as soon as possible. There are a number of students that owe money; it would be appreciated if payment could be made as soon as possible. Low balance and negative balance letters are sent home weekly. Please, put the student’s name and pin number on your payments.ONLINE CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS
– Imlay City Community Schools is enrolled with an online payment service called "Café Prepay". This payment option is available only if you have access to the internet. The school cannot accept credit card payments directly. This service allows you to pay for your child’s school meals using your Visa, MasterCard or Discover Card. To use the service, you must first enroll at the website. A valid email address is required, as you will receive payment confirmations via email. The school receives a list of credit card payments made on the Café Prepay website each morning. More information is available at the Café Prepay website: http://www.CafePrepay.com or www.PAY4LUNCH.COMPlease, feel free to contact us with your questions or concerns.
